Frequently Asked Questions About Chicken Tikka Meal Prep Lunch

What is a preppable chicken tikka filling?

For me, this chicken tikka filling is one of the easiest meal prep lunch options I make. It’s essentially cooked chicken breast coated in tikka flavours, then mixed with a light, creamy dressing. I use it as a base for loads of lunch ideas, from bagels to wraps, making it really versatile for the week ahead.

Is chicken tikka good for meal prep lunches?

Yes, this is exactly why I make it. Chicken tikka works brilliantly as a meal prep lunch because it stores well, reheats easily (if you want it warm), and keeps its flavour for days. I often prep a batch at the start of the week so I’ve always got a high-protein lunch idea ready to go.

How long does chicken tikka last in the fridge?

In my experience, this chicken tikka filling lasts up to 4 days in an airtight container in the fridge. That makes it perfect for planning multiple meal prep lunches without worrying about freshness.

Is this chicken tikka recipe healthy?

I keep this chicken tikka recipe quite light by using chicken breast, low-fat mayonnaise, and 0% Greek yoghurt. It’s high in protein and relatively low in calories, which is why I rely on it for easy meal prep lunches that still feel satisfying.

Can I use this chicken tikka filling in different lunch ideas?

Definitely—that’s one of the reasons I love it. I usually have mine in a toasted bagel with rocket, but it also works really well in wraps, pitta bread, salads, or even rice bowls. It’s one of those meal prep lunch recipes that never gets boring because you can switch it up every day.

Can I make chicken tikka without tikka paste?

Yes, and I’ve done it plenty of times. If I don’t have tikka paste, I just mix my own spices like coriander, paprika, cumin, turmeric, and a bit of chilli powder. It still gives that classic chicken tikka flavour and keeps this recipe simple and accessible for easy lunch ideas.

What’s the best way to cook chicken for meal prep lunches?

I like to air fry my chicken for this chicken tikka recipe because it’s quick and gives a nice texture. Cooking at 190°C for around 20 minutes works perfectly for me. It keeps the chicken juicy, which is key for a good meal prep lunch.

Can I freeze chicken tikka filling?

Yes, you can freeze it, although I personally prefer it fresh for meal prep lunches. If I do freeze it, I store the cooked chicken separately and mix the dressing after defrosting to keep the texture as good as possible.

How much protein is in this chicken tikka meal prep lunch?

This is one of my go-to high-protein lunch ideas because each serving of the filling has around 40g of protein. It’s ideal if I want something filling that keeps me going through the afternoon.

What can I serve with chicken tikka for lunch?

I usually go for something simple like a toasted bagel with rocket, but there are loads of lunch ideas you can try. It works well with flatbreads, salads, or even stuffed into a jacket potato. That flexibility is what makes it such a reliable meal prep lunch option.

Can I make this chicken tikka recipe dairy-free?

Yes, I can easily adapt this chicken tikka recipe by swapping the yoghurt and mayo for dairy-free alternatives. It still works well and keeps it suitable for different dietary needs while staying a great meal prep lunch.
