What are peanut butter protein balls?

Peanut butter protein balls are bite-sized, no-bake snacks made with ingredients that provide protein and energy. I make my peanut butter protein balls using cottage cheese, peanut butter and other simple ingredients to create a healthy snack that’s both satisfying and easy to prepare.

Are these peanut butter balls healthy?

Yes, I consider these peanut butter balls a healthy snack option because they’re made with wholesome ingredients and contain plenty of protein. They’re ideal when I want a convenient snack that helps keep me fuller for longer between meals.

How much protein is in these protein balls?

Each protein ball packs over 11 grams of protein, making these peanut butter balls a fantastic protein-rich snack.

Why do I add cottage cheese to protein balls?

I add cottage cheese because it increases the protein content while creating a soft, creamy texture. Cottage cheese is also a great way to make high protein snacks without relying solely on protein powder.

Are cottage cheese protein balls good for meal prep?

Yes, these cottage cheese protein balls are perfect for meal prep. I can make a batch in advance and store them in the fridge for quick, healthy snacks throughout the week.

How long do peanut butter protein balls last?

I usually store my peanut butter protein balls in an airtight container in the fridge, where they’ll stay fresh for several days. They can also be frozen for longer storage if needed.

Can I freeze protein balls?

Yes, I often freeze protein balls to keep them fresh for longer. I simply place them in a freezer-safe container and thaw them in the fridge before eating.

Can I use crunchy peanut butter instead of smooth peanut butter?

Yes, I can use either crunchy or smooth peanut butter in this recipe. Crunchy peanut butter adds extra texture, while smooth peanut butter creates a softer protein ball.

What makes these protein balls high in protein?

The combination of cottage cheese and peanut butter helps make these protein balls naturally high in protein. If I want to increase the protein content even further, I can add a scoop of protein powder.

Are these protein balls good for weight management?

Many people enjoy protein balls as part of a balanced diet because protein can help promote fullness. I like keeping these high protein snacks on hand when I need something satisfying between meals.

What can I use instead of cottage cheese?

If I don’t have cottage cheese, I can try alternatives such as Greek yoghurt or a thick dairy-free yoghurt. However, cottage cheese provides a particularly high protein content and creamy texture.

Method

Step 1

Add the oats, protein powder, cottage cheese, peanut butter, and honey to a blender and blend until combined.

Step 2

Using a tablespoon, scoop out the mixture and roll into balls with your hands. Place on a lined tray and repeat until all the mixture is used (you should get around 10–12 balls, depending on the size).

Step 3

Melt the chocolate, then dip each ball to coat. Place back onto the lined tray, sprinkle with flaky sea salt, and freeze for 30–60 minutes, or until set.

Ingredients

250g cottage cheese, blended

2 tbsp honey

200g blended oats

2 scoops protein powder
