This recipe transforms the classic prawn toast into a lighter version by using the air fryer, making it an ideal air fryer snack for any occasion. The air fryer not only ensures a crispy, golden exterior but also significantly reduces the amount of oil typically used in traditional frying methods. Perfect for satisfying your takeaway cravings, this fakeaway recipe is both quick and easy to prepare, making it a great option for busy weeknights or impromptu gatherings. So next time you’re in the mood for a quick and tasty snack, ditch the takeaway menu and try this irresistible air fryer prawn toast instead.

Method

Step 1

Put the prawns into a bowl, then mash them with a fork. Alternatively, mash the prawns in a food processor (using a fork can be a little awkward). Grate the garlic and ginger.

Step 2

Add the sesame oil, garlic and ginger to the mashed prawns. Mix well. Divide the mixture equally between the bread slices, then spread it perfectly flat with a knife. Make sure the whole slice is covered.

Step 3

Cut each piece of bread into four triangles, so that you have 16 triangles in total.

Step 4

Beat the egg in a small bowl. Carefully dip each triangle into the beaten egg, plain-side down. You’re only coating the bread side, not the prawn side. Transfer the dipped triangles to a plate, egg-side up and scatter with sesame seeds.

Step 5

Spray each triangle, egg-side up, with oil spray and stick in the air fryer for 8 mins at 200°C (390°F)

Step 6

Serve with the sweet chilli sauce on the side, for dipping. Enjoy every triangle… so so good.
