If you’ve not had a pizza toastie then I think you’re missing out! I usually make pizza bagels but spotted Very Hungry Greek doing it with bread and this is another way of doing it. Converted.

Step 1

Start by selecting your favourite bread slices for the toastie. Spread a generous layer of pizza sauce mixed with garlic and herbs evenly over each slice.

Step 2

Once the bread is coated with sauce, it’s time to layer on the toppings. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheese over the sauce-covered bread slices. For a classic pepperoni pizza toastie, evenly distribute slices of pepperoni on top of the cheese layer. If you’re feeling creative or prefer a vegetarian option, feel free to swap out the pepperoni for your favourite veggies such as peppers, mushrooms, or onions.

Step 3

To prevent the toppings from shifting or blowing off during the cooking process, place cocktail sticks or toothpicks through the pepperoni slices or vegetables. This simple trick ensures that your air fryer pizza toastie stays intact and doesn’t get messy!

Step 4

Carefully transfer the prepared pizza toasties into the air fryer basket, and air fry for approximately 7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Step 5

Once cooked, carefully remove the air fryer pizza toasties from the basket using tongs or a spatula. Allow them to cool slightly before serving. Slice each toastie into halves or quarters for easy sharing, and serve them hot with your favourite dipping sauce or a side salad for a complete meal.
