With the magic of a slow cooker, you can indulge in this popular dessert without spending hours in the kitchen.

Can you make sticky toffee pudding in a slow cooker?

Yes, and it turns out incredibly moist and rich. The slow cooker creates a gentle, even heat, making it ideal for sticky toffee pudding without the risk of it drying out.

How long does sticky toffee pudding take in the slow cooker?

Typically, it takes around 2.5 to 3 hours on high or 4 to 5 hours on low, depending on your slow cooker model. Always check with a skewer — it should come out clean when it’s ready.

Do I need to cover the slow cooker pudding while it cooks?

It’s a good idea to place a tea towel under the lid of the slow cooker to catch condensation. This helps prevent the top of the pudding from going soggy.

What’s the sauce made from in sticky toffee pudding?

The classic sauce is made from butter, brown sugar and double cream, creating that rich, toffee-like flavour. Some people also add a splash of vanilla or a pinch of salt.

Can I use dates in this recipe?

Yes, most traditional recipes include chopped Medjool or pitted dates for a deep, sticky sweetness and soft texture in the sponge.

Can sticky toffee pudding be made ahead of time?

Absolutely. You can make it in advance and reheat portions in the microwave. It also freezes well – just thaw and warm with extra sauce.

Is this a good dessert for entertaining?

Yes, this is one of the best slow cooker desserts to make for guests. You can set it and forget it, and it’s always a crowd-pleaser served with cream, custard, or ice cream.

Can I make this recipe gluten-free?

Yes. Swap regular self-raising flour for a gluten-free version and ensure your baking powder and other ingredients are certified gluten-free.

How should I store leftover sticky toffee pudding?

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the microwave with a spoonful of sauce or a splash of cream.
