Air Fryer Hot Honey Chicken Tenders are a delightful twist on classic chicken strips, combining the crispy texture of air-fried chicken with the sweet and spicy kick of hot honey. These chicken tenders are not only delicious but also incredibly easy to prepare. They really hit the spot and gorgeous with a side dip to just dunk and enjoy, a slight fiery kick with the hot sauce.

Why Cook Chicken Tenders In The Air Fryer?

Using an air fryer for this recipe offers several advantages:

  • Air fryers require little to no oil, resulting in a lower-fat dish.
  • Air fryers cook food faster than traditional ovens.
  • The circulating hot air ensures a crispy exterior similar to deep-frying.
  • Air fryer baskets are typically non-stick and dishwasher safe.

Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Hot Honey Chicken Tenders

To achieve the best results with your Air Fryer Hot Honey Chicken Tenders, consider these tips:

  • Preheat your air fryer for optimal crispiness.
  • Don’t overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Flip the tenders halfway through cooking for even browning.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken is cooked through (75°C internal temperature).
  • Brush the hot honey sauce on after cooking to maintain crispiness.

What to Serve with Hot Honey Chicken Tenders

Hot Honey Chicken Tenders pair well with various side dishes:

Alternatives to Hot Honey

If you’re looking to switch things up, consider trying some alternative sauces to enhance your Air Fryer Hot Honey Chicken Tenders. For a sweet and spicy twist, Maple Sriracha offers a delightful combination that adds depth to the dish. If you prefer a zesty, tangy flavour, Lemon Pepper can provide a refreshing contrast. For those who enjoy savoury options, Garlic Parmesan is an excellent choice that complements the chicken beautifully.

While the hot honey glaze already adds fantastic flavour, you can also pair these air fryer chicken tenders with some dips. Classic options like garlic mayo to help with the hot honey kick or BBQ sauce is always a crowd-pleaser.

How to Store Leftovers?

To keep your Hot Honey Chicken Tenders fresh allow them to cool completely before storing. Make sure to place in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. And when reheating the chicken tenders, place in the air fryer at 180°C 200°C (365°F) for 3-4 minutes until heated through.

Method

Step 1

Simply slice chicken breasts into thin strips.

Step 2

Coat the chicken tenders in a beaten egg

Step 3

Then coat in a mixture which is 3x bags of crushed crisps with a tsp of garlic and onion granules. I used pop chips but you can use cornflakes or be creative with crisps. For an ultra fine crumb use a food processor.

Step 4

Use plenty of low calorie spray and pop the chicken tenders in the Air fryer for 11 minutes at 200°C (390°F).

Step 5

Once the chicken tenders are cooked, remove from the air fryer and glaze with 3 tablespoons of hot sauce and 3 tablespoons of honey.

Step 6

Serve with a dip of your choice. I’d suggest sharing (but feel free not to!)

Ingredients

3 chicken breasts

1 beaten egg

1 tsp garlic granules

1 tsp onion granules

100g (1/2 cup) of cornflakes or crisps (I used popchips for this recipe)

3 tbsp honey

3 tbsp hot sauce
