Yes, slow cooker eggnog is safe because the cooking process fully incorporates and heats the egg yolks, eliminating any raw egg concerns.

Can you make eggnog without alcohol?

 

Absolutely! This recipe doesn’t use alcohol, but for an alcoholic version, feel free to add around 250ml (1 cup) rum.

 

How do you serve slow cooker eggnog?

 

Serve warm or chilled, garnished with:

  • Freshly grated nutmeg
  • Whipped cream
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Optional rum for alcoholic version.

 

How long does homemade slow cooker eggnog last?

 

Refrigerate in a covered container and consume within 3-4 days for best quality.

Method

Step 1

Whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until nice and creamy

Step 2

Add the mixture to your slow cooker with the rest of the ingredients (except the cream and ground cinnamon) and give it a good mix

Step 3

Cook on low for 90 minutes stirring 1-2 times throughout the cooking process. 

Step 4

Remove the cinnamon sticks and transfer the eggnog into mugs. Serve with some whipped cream and add some ground cinnamon for decoration.

8 large egg yolks

100g (½ cup) granulated sugar

350mls (1 ½ cups) cream

475mls (2 cups) milk

1 tsp ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cinnamon sticks

Whipped cream, to serve

Ground cinnamon, to serve
