Can I really make a traybake in an air fryer?

Yes. This air fryer recipe is a perfect example of how to do a one pan traybake using your air fryer drawer or basket. Everything cooks together, saving time and effort – ideal for busy evenings.

What type of sausages work best?

Use your favourite sausages – Cumberland, pork & leek, chicken or veggie sausages all work well. Just make sure they’re evenly sized for consistent cooking.

Do I need to parboil the vegetables first?

No need. The beauty of the air fryer is that it cooks the veg quickly with a lovely roast-style finish. Just chop everything into similar-sized pieces so they cook evenly.

What vegetables go well in this sausage traybake?

Root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, parsnips, and additions like red onion, peppers, or courgette are great. They absorb the honey mustard glaze beautifully.

Can I use frozen sausages or vegetables?

Yes, but you may need to adjust the cooking time slightly. Make sure everything is cooked through before serving.

How long does it take to cook in the air fryer?

Usually around 20–25 minutes at 180–200°C, depending on your air fryer model and the thickness of your ingredients. Shake the basket halfway through for even cooking.

Is this a healthy dinner option?

It can be! Using lean sausages and loading up on veg makes this a balanced, healthier version of traditional sausage and mash. The honey mustard glaze adds flavour without needing loads of oil.

Can I make this dish vegetarian or vegan?

Absolutely – just swap the sausages for meat-free alternatives and use a plant-based honey or maple syrup for the glaze.

How do I make the honey mustard glaze?

It’s super simple: a mix of honey, wholegrain mustard, olive oil, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Toss everything in it before air frying for maximum flavour.

What should I serve with this traybake?

It’s a complete one pan meal, but if you’re extra hungry, add a side of greens, a gravy drizzle, or a simple side salad.
