Air Fryer Sweet Potato Hash is really versatile and you can make it more substantial by adding a poached egg or two and a slice of toasted sourdough. The perfect brunch in my opinion.

Can you make breakfast hash in the air fryer?

Absolutely. This Air Fryer Sweet Potato Hash is a quick and easy way to whip up a nutritious, flavour-packed brunch or breakfast without standing over the hob. The air fryer helps get everything crispy with minimal oil.

How long does sweet potato take in the air fryer?

Diced sweet potatoes typically take around 15–20 minutes at 200°C (392°F) in the air fryer. Shake halfway through to ensure they cook evenly and go golden on all sides.

Do I need to parboil the sweet potatoes first?

No need! Just dice them into small, even cubes — around 1cm pieces work best — and pop them straight into the air fryer. Toss with oil and seasoning first for extra flavour.

What can I add to make this more filling?

For a more substantial breakfast hash, top it with a poached or fried egg, crumbled feta, chopped avocado, or a side of sourdough toast. It’s also great with cooked chorizo, bacon, or black pudding.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Yes, you can prep and cook the sweet potato hash in advance, then reheat in the air fryer for 3–5 minutes when ready to serve. Ideal for meal prep or quick weekday breakfasts.

Is sweet potato hash healthy?

Definitely. Sweet potatoes are packed with fibre, vitamins, and slow-release carbs. Cooking in the air fryer keeps this dish lower in fat while still delivering a crispy, satisfying texture.

Can I add other vegetables to the hash?

Yes – it’s a great way to use up what’s in the fridge. Try adding peppers, onions, courgette, cherry tomatoes, or even spinach (add this in the last minute so it doesn’t overcook).

Can I make this recipe vegan?

It’s naturally vegan if you skip any animal-based toppings like eggs or cheese. Just use your favourite plant-based alternatives.

Do I need to peel the sweet potatoes?

That’s up to you! The skin is full of nutrients and crisps up nicely, but if you prefer them peeled, that works too.

Can I make a big batch in the air fryer?

You can, but for best results don’t overcrowd the basket. Cook in batches if needed to ensure everything crisps up nicely instead of steaming. Method

Step 1

In a bowl, combine the sweet potatoes, oil and paprika.

Step 2

Airfry the potatoes at 190°C (375°F) for 14–15 minutes, and add the chorizo for the last 2–3 minutes.

Step 3

While the chorizo is cooking, put the butter, chilli and garlic in a microwaveable bowl and microwave for 1 minute until the butter is melted.

Step 4

Season the yogurt with salt and pepper.

Step 5

Serve the hash drizzled with the yogurt, then top with the melted garlic chilli butter and sprinkle with fresh dill. I also like to serve mine with a poached egg for extra protein.
