This is such a fan-favourite pudding and it couldn’t be any easier to make. No one will believe you’ve cooked it in a slow cooker and the sponge is really airy and light. The star of the show here is definitely the gooey sauce.
How can I make this dessert more Christmas-themed?
You can make this chocolate fondant without Terry’s chocolate orange, or feel free to customise by adding your favourite Christmas chocolate such as Terry’s Chocolate Orange, Toblerone, Lindt etc.
Tips for making slow cooker chocolate fondant
To make the perfect slow cooker chocolate fondant, there are several key tips to keep in mind that will ensure a rich, gooey dessert every time. First, start by greasing your slow cooker with butter and lining it with baking parchment to prevent sticking. This is crucial for easy removal once the fondant is cooked.
When mixing your ingredients, be sure to whisk together the sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, and flour until well combined. For an extra touch of indulgence, consider adding pieces of Terry’s Chocolate Orange into the batter for a delightful citrus twist. Once your mixture is ready, pour it into the prepared slow cooker and cover it with a clean tea towel before placing the lid on top. This helps to trap steam and moisture, which is vital for achieving that signature molten centre.
Cooking times can vary depending on your slow cooker model, but generally, you should cook on low for about 2 to 3 hours until the edges are set but the centre remains soft and slightly wobbly. To check for doneness, gently press the centre; it should feel firm yet springy. After cooking, let it cool slightly before dusting with icing sugar and serving warm with a scoop of ice cream or double cream.
