What Is Marry Me Chicken?
Delish developed the ORIGINAL “Marry Me” chicken that’s gone viral on TikTok. This recipe has become so iconic that even The New York Times covered it, and their version became their most popular recipe of 2023, seven years after the original was created. Chicken breasts are seared until golden brown before being baked in a simple yet incredibly satisfying cream sauce, resulting in a dish that’s bursting with flavour in every bite. Whether it’s for a special Valentine’s Day meal or an extra-special weeknight dinner, be prepared… this chicken just might inspire a confession of love at first bite.
Can I make Marry Me Chicken in a slow cooker?
Yes, and it’s perfect for it. Using a slow cooker allows the flavours to deepen while keeping the chicken beautifully tender and juicy.
How long should I cook this stew in the slow cooker?
Cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours. This slow cook time gives the sauce time to thicken and infuse the chicken with rich flavour.
What cut of chicken is best for this stew?
You can use boneless chicken breasts or thighs. Thighs tend to stay juicier during long cooking, but breasts work well if that’s what you have.
Can I make it dairy-free?
Yes – swap the cream for a dairy-free alternative like oat cream or coconut cream, and use a dairy-free cheese if adding parmesan.
Does this freeze well?
Yes – allow it to cool fully, portion into airtight containers, and freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat thoroughly before serving.
Can I batch cook this stew?
Absolutely – this dish is perfect for meal prep. Double the ingredients and store leftovers in the fridge for easy lunches or dinners.
