This Slow Cooker Creamy Nando’s Pasta is a one-pot pasta dish inspired by the flavours of Nando’s. It’s made using chicken, pasta, cream or cream cheese and Nando’s peri-peri garlic seasoning. All cooked slowly for a rich, creamy and mildly spicy result.
When should I add pasta to the slow cooker?
Pasta should be added near the end of cooking, usually during the last 30–45 minutes. This prevents it from overcooking and becoming mushy.
What type of pasta is best for slow cooker creamy pasta?
Short pasta shapes like penne, fusilli or rigatoni work best for slow cooker creamy Nando’s pasta. They hold their shape well and absorb the sauce evenly.
Can I make this recipe with chicken breast or chicken thighs?
Yes. Chicken breast keeps the dish lean, while chicken thighs give a richer flavour and stay extra juicy when slow cooked. Both work well.
Can I make this pasta ahead of time?
Yes. Slow cooker creamy Nando’s pasta can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the hob or in the microwave, adding a splash of milk or stock if needed.
Can I freeze creamy Nando’s pasta?
You can freeze it, but cream-based sauces may slightly change texture when reheated. For best results, freeze without the pasta and add freshly cooked pasta when serving.
@boredoflunch Slow Cooker Creamy Nando’s Garlic Chicken Pasta (572 calories & 52g of Protein – Serves 4) A really simple dinner idea for hectic midweek meals, this is also perfect for lunch leftovers. You can use you own spice mix but I find the Nando’s sachets are really handy, I used the garlic one. Comment PLAN for a copy of my 12 meal planner Ingredients: – 3-4 chicken breasts – 1 red onion, diced – 1 pepper, sliced – 1 sachet of Nando’s Garlic seasoning, you could use a mix of your own spices at home – 1 tsp dried herbs – 400g passata Once cooked, add: – 275g dry weight pasta – 400ml chicken stock – 1 tbsp light cream cheese, I used Philadelphia – 100g reduced fat grated cheese Method: 1. Add the chicken, red onion, pepper, Nando’s sachet, dried herbs and passata to your slow cooker. Stir to combine, then cook on HIGH for 3–4 hours or LOW for 7–8 hours until the chicken is tender. 2. Once cooked, shred the chicken, then add the pasta and chicken stock. Cook on HIGH for a further 45 minutes, or until the pasta is soft and cooked through. 3. Add a dash more stock if required to loosen then stir through the cream cheese and top with your grated cheese. Add the lid and let the cheese melt for about 5-10 minutes then serve.
