Aglio e olio is one of my all-time favourite pasta sauces, so pairing this gorgeous dressing with crispy chicken wings is a match like no other.

Can you cook chicken wings in an air fryer?

Absolutely. Air fryer chicken wings come out incredibly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside — no deep frying needed. It’s the easiest and healthiest way to make wings at home.

How long do chicken wings take in the air fryer?

Chicken wings in the air fryer typically cook in 20–25 minutes at 180–200°C (350–400°F). Flip halfway through for even crispiness. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on wing size and your air fryer model.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer for chicken wings?

Yes, for best results, preheat your air fryer for 3–5 minutes. This helps the wings cook evenly and get that perfectly crispy texture.

Should I add oil to chicken wings in the air fryer?

A light spray of oil can help boost crispiness, especially if you want that fried finish. But one of the great things about air frying is that it needs far less oil than traditional methods.

How do I make air fryer chicken wings extra crispy?

For extra crispy air fryer wings, pat them dry with kitchen paper before cooking, use a light coating of oil, and avoid overcrowding the basket so the hot air circulates well.

Can I use frozen chicken wings in the air fryer?

Yes, you can cook frozen chicken wings in the air fryer, just increase the cook time by 5–10 minutes. For best results, thaw them first to help seasonings stick better and ensure even cooking.

What are the best seasonings for air fryer chicken wings?

These Aglio e Olio-inspired wings are rich, garlicky, and perfect for garlic lovers. But you can switch it up with BBQ, buffalo, lemon pepper, or even a sticky soy glaze — air fryer chicken wings are super versatile.

Are air fryer chicken wings healthier than fried wings?

Yes. Since you’re using much less oil, air fryer wings are a healthier option without sacrificing flavour or crunch. A perfect fakeaway treat.

Can I double the recipe in the air fryer?

It depends on your air fryer size. Avoid overcrowding — cook in batches if needed to keep the wings crisp, not soggy.

How do I store and reheat leftover air fryer chicken wings?

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 5–6 minutes to bring back that crispy texture. Method

Step 1

Pat dry the chicken wings with some kitchen paper, then coat them in 1 tablespoon of the oil and sprinkle with the garlic powder. Air-fry at 200°C (390°F) for 17 minutes. Turn halfway or shake so you get an even cook.

Step 2

Just before the chicken has finished cooking, heat the rest of the oil in a pan, add the chilli and crushed garlic, season with salt and pepper and cook for 1–2 minutes. Put the wings in a bowl, then add the basil and Parmesan and shake together.

Ingredients

15–20 chicken wings, skin on

4 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp garlic powder

1 red chilli, chopped

2 garlic cloves, crushed
