Air Fryer Sticky Sesame Chicken

Sticky honey chicken sprinkled with sesame seeds - this is so good and will have you thinking you're going to town on your calories for the day, when in reality you aren't at all. A healthier, lighter way to enjoy a takeaway favourite, this is great with egg noodles and some steamed pak choi.

This sticky sesame chicken is a popular recipe from my latest book Air Fryer 30 Minute Meals. Probably one of my favourite fakeaway dishes as it has all the satisfaction of your favourite takeaway, without the guilt. Pair it with tender egg noodles and steamed pak choi for a complete meal and enjoy!

Method

Step 1

Combine the cornflour and spices in a bowl. Coat the chicken in the beaten egg, then in the spiced cornflour mix. Spray well with the oil spray and air-fry for 14 minutes at 200°C (390°F).

Step 2

Mix together the sauce ingredients in a bowl.

Step 3

When the chicken is cooked, pour the sauce over the chicken and air-fry for a further 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens, or add the sauce to a small pan to warm over a low heat.

Step 4

Ingredients

3-4 tbsp cornflour

1 tsp garlic granules

1 tsp onion granules

1 tsp Chinese 5 spice

300g (10 1/2 oz) chicken breasts, cut into bite-size chunks

1 egg, beaten

low-calorie oil spray

Sauce: 1 tsp sesame oil, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 3 tbsp honey, 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce, 1 tsp rice wine vinegar, ½ tsp Chinese 5 spice, 2 tbsp sriracha, 1 tbsp garlic purée, 1 tbsp ginger purée

To garnish: 1 tbsp white sesame seeds, 2 spring onions, chopped, 2 red chillies, finely diced
