Can you cook steak in the air fryer for tacos?
Yes, the air fryer is great for cooking steak – it’s quick, convenient, and keeps the meat juicy while getting a lovely sear. Perfect for easy weeknight tacos.
What’s the best cut of steak to use for air fryer tacos?
Sirloin or rump steak all work well – they’re lean, cook fast, and slice easily. Just don’t forget to rest the steak before slicing for maximum tenderness.
How long does steak take to cook in the air fryer?
Steak typically takes around 6–10 minutes at 200°C, depending on thickness and how well done you like it. Flip halfway through for even cooking.
Do I need to marinate the steak first?
You can, but it’s optional. A simple marinade of lime juice, garlic, olive oil, and fajita spices adds loads of flavour. Even 15 minutes makes a difference.
Can I make these steak tacos ahead of time?
You can cook the steak and prep the toppings ahead, then assemble when ready to eat. It’s a great option for meal prep or entertaining.

What toppings go well with steak tacos?
Popular options include shredded lettuce, salsa, guacamole, pickled onions, sour cream, cheese, or fresh coriander. Mix and match to suit your taste.
What kind of tortillas should I use?
Small soft flour or corn tortillas work best. You can warm them quickly in the air fryer or a pan just before serving.
Can I make a vegetarian version of these tacos in the air fryer?
Yes – swap the steak for air fryer halloumi, mushrooms or fajita-spiced peppers for a delicious meat-free taco night.
