Can you make lasagne in the air fryer?

While traditional lasagne layers can be tricky in an air fryer, this recipe gives you all the lasagne flavours on crispy fries – the perfect shortcut.

What type of fries work best for loaded fries in the air fryer?

Thicker-cut oven chips hold toppings better, but you can use skinny fries or wedges. Just adjust the air fryer cooking time.

Can I make this recipe ahead?

You can prep the lasagne sauce in advance and store it in the fridge for 2–3 days. When ready, just cook your fries and assemble.

Is this healthier than classic lasagne?

Using lean mince, reduced-fat cheese, and the air fryer instead of deep-frying makes it a lighter alternative to traditional lasagne or takeaway loaded fries.

Method

Step 1

Preheat your air fryer to 200°C. Add the frozen chips to the basket and air fry for 15–18 minutes, shaking halfway, until golden and crispy.

Step 2

Meanwhile, heat a non-stick pan on medium heat. Brown the mince for 3–4 minutes, then add the onion and garlic. Cook for another 3 minutes. Stir in chopped tomatoes, tomato purée, herbs, and beef stock. Simmer for 8–10 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 3

Once the chips are ready, spread them evenly in the air fryer tray or an oven-safe dish that fits your air fryer. Top with the lasagne mince mixture, cheese, mozzarella, and a sprinkle of Parmesan.

Step 4

Return to the air fryer at 180°C for 3–5 minutes until the cheese melts and bubbles. Garnish with fresh basil if you like and dig in!
