Is crusted salmon healthy?
Yes, crusted salmon can be a healthy option, especially when using whole ingredients like whole wheat breadcrumbs, herbs, and spices. Salmon itself is packed with omega-3 fatty acids, protein, and essential nutrients. To make it even healthier, opt for lighter coatings, such as a panko crust or a simple herb mix, and avoid heavy frying methods.
How do I get a crunchy coating on salmon?
To achieve a crunchy coating on salmon, you can use a few simple tips:
- Use Panko breadcrumbs as they are lighter and can crisp up better than regular breadcrumbs.
- Brush with olive oil or mustard, as this helps the crust stick and crisp up in the air fryer.
- Don’t overcrowd the basket for the best crunch
How long to cook salmon for in air fryer?
Cooking salmon in an air fryer usually takes about 8-12 minutes at 375°F (190°C). The exact time depends on the thickness of the salmon fillet. To check if it’s done, the salmon should easily flake with a fork, and the internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C).
Method
Step 1
Prepare your crumb by adding all the ingredients above into a bowl.
Step 2
Take your salmon fillets and add 1 tsp Dijon mustard to each piece so its fully coated. Then add 3-4 tsp of the crumb mix to the salmon and pat so it sticks to the mustard.
Step 3
Spray the salmon with some @frylighthq then cook for 11-12 minutes at 200.
Step 4
While that is cooking prepare a quick couscous by mixing 200ml chicken stock with 200g couscous and set aside.
Step 5
Prepare a quick yoghurt by mixing Greek yoghurt with some lemon juice, garlic and fresh parsley.
Step 6
Serve the salmon with your couscous, yoghurt and feel free to serve with some fresh vegetables like rocket or cherry tomatoes. Enjoy!
