What is air fryer halloumi in blankets?

Air fryer halloumi in blankets is a delicious snack where halloumi cheese is wrapped in bacon and cooked in the air fryer until crispy on the outside and soft inside. It’s perfect for Christmas parties, festive buffets, or a quick indulgent treat.

How do you make halloumi in blankets in the air fryer?

Simply cut halloumi into sticks, wrap each piece with bacon, and air fry at 180°C for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway. Serve hot with a honey mustard dressing for extra flavour.

Can I make halloumi in blankets ahead of time?

Yes! You can wrap the halloumi in bacon in advance and store in the fridge. Cook them in the air fryer just before serving to keep the bacon crisp and the halloumi warm.

What’s the best dip for halloumi in blankets?

Honey mustard dressing is a classic choice, balancing the salty bacon and creamy halloumi with a touch of sweetness. Other popular dips include BBQ sauce or hot honey.

Can halloumi in blankets be served for Christmas?

Absolutely! Halloumi in blankets is a festive favourite. Serve as a starter, on a sharing platter, or as part of a Christmas buffet – it’s always a hit with guests.

Can I make a vegetarian version of halloumi in blankets?

Yes! Use vegetarian or plant-based bacon instead of regular bacon. Cook in the air fryer at the same temperature, keeping an eye on cooking times, as some alternatives cook faster.

How long does halloumi in blankets take to cook in the air fryer?

They usually take 10–12 minutes at 180°C. Turn halfway through cooking to ensure the bacon is evenly crisp and the halloumi melts slightly on the inside.

Can I use turkey bacon for a lighter/halal version?

Yes, turkey bacon works well and makes the snack slightly lower in fat. Cooking times are similar, but check halfway as turkey bacon can crisp faster than regular bacon.

Is air fryer halloumi in blankets healthy?

It’s a treat! Halloumi provides protein and calcium, while bacon adds fat and salt. Using the air fryer keeps it lighter than frying in oil, making it a slightly healthier indulgence for Christmas or special occasions.

Can I freeze halloumi in blankets?

It’s best to cook and serve fresh. Freezing may affect the texture of the halloumi and bacon. If needed, you can freeze uncooked wrapped halloumi and air fry straight from frozen, adding a couple of extra minutes to the cooking time.

Can I add seasonings to halloumi in blankets?

Yes! A light sprinkle of black pepper, paprika, or a drizzle of maple syrup before air frying adds extra flavour. Honey mustard dressing complements these flavours beautifully.

Can halloumi in blankets be a party snack all year round?

Definitely! While popular at Christmas, halloumi in blankets works as a tasty snack, starter, or appetizer for any gathering throughout the year. The air fryer makes it quick and easy to prepare anytime.
