Why you should make gnocchi in the air fryer

Making gnocchi in an air fryer offers a delightful twist on this classic Italian dish, providing a crispiness and texture that’s difficult to achieve through traditional boiling or pan-frying methods alone. The air fryer cooks the gnocchi evenly and quickly, resulting in a perfectly golden exterior while maintaining a soft and fluffy interior. This method not only enhances the flavour by adding a satisfying crunch but also reduces the amount of oil used compared to deep frying. It’s a healthier alternative that doesn’t compromise on taste or texture, making air fryer gnocchi a great choice for both convenience and culinary satisfaction. Whether paired with a simple marinara sauce, tossed in pesto, or served alongside this creamy carbonara sauce, you’re sure to savour every bite.

Method

Step 1

Remove the tray from your air fryer and pop your gnocchi and bacon lardons into the bottom air fryer with a splash of olive oil and black pepper and air fry for 12 minutes at 200°C (390°F).

Step 2

Once cooked, prepare your sauce by adding 3 egg yolks, a splash of milk, parmesan and plenty of black pepper.

Step 3

Pour the sauce over the gnocchi and stir for one minute so the sauce cooks.

Step 4

Serve the gnocchi with a sprinkle of parmesan and more black pepper and enjoy!
