Since starting my blog during lockdown, I’ve been able to travel to London loads for work. Sometimes, I’m there for weeks. Which means I know a thing or two about eating out. Whether it’s a quick Deliveroo to our book shoot, or a nice dinner catching up with friends in London. Here are some fantastic restaurants, eateries and places to eat in London.
Searching for the perfect spot to kickstart your day in London? Look no further. From the fluffy pancakes at Sunday In Brooklyn to skyline views of London at Duck & Waffle, London’s breakfast scene promises a delightful start to your day.
Duck and Waffle
Perched on the 40th floor of 110 Bishopsgate, Duck & Waffle offers breathtaking views of London’s skyline. Their signature dish, the duck and waffle, is a must-try: a crispy leg confit, fried duck egg, and mustard maple syrup atop a fluffy waffle. It’s open 24/7, so you can enjoy breakfast with a view any time of day.
26 Grains
Tucked away in Neal’s Yard, 26 Grains is a cosy spot known for their porridge bowls. Their almond milk porridge with Nordic pear, cacao crumble, and Greek yoghurt is a personal favourite. They also do a cracking avocado toast if you’re after something savoury.
Sunday In Brooklyn
Despite the name, this Notting Hill spot serves up American-style brunch every day of the week. Their malted pancakes with hazelnut maple praline and brown butter are the stuff of legend. Don’t miss their house-cured salmon on an everything bagel either.
Brother Marcus
With locations in Angel, Spitalfields, and Borough Yards, Brother Marcus is a go-to for Mediterranean-inspired brunch. The ‘Step Sister’ with sweet potato, courgette and feta fritters, avocado, and spinach is a crowd-pleaser.
Tab x Tab
This minimalist café in Westbourne Grove takes coffee seriously. Their brunch menu is equally impressive, featuring dishes like chilli scrambled eggs on sourdough and açai bowls topped with homemade granola.
Where The Pancakes Are
As the name suggests, this place is pancake heaven. From classic buttermilk stacks to savoury options like Welsh rarebit, there’s a pancake for every palate. Their locations in Fitzrovia and London Bridge are always buzzing.
Dishoom
For an Indian twist on breakfast, Dishoom is unbeatable. Their bacon naan roll is the stuff of legends – a freshly baked naan filled with cream cheese, chilli jam, and crispy bacon. Pair it with a chai for the full experience.
In London, when you’re in a rush and need something tasty, whether you’re craving a juicy burger or something light like a salad, these spots have you covered for quick, delicious bites on the move.
Bleecker Burger
Bleecker Burger is one of my go-to spots for a delicious burger in London. Their classic cheeseburger is simply perfection—juicy beef patty, melted cheese, and a soft bun. It’s straightforward but absolutely satisfying. If you’re feeling adventurous, try their angry fries, which are loaded with blue cheese and hot sauce. Trust me, they’re worth every bite!
Honest Burgers
Another favourite of mine is Honest Burgers. They pride themselves on using fresh, British ingredients, and their homemade rosemary chips are a must-try. The Honest Burger itself features a succulent beef patty topped with cheese, lettuce, and their signature burger sauce. It’s all about quality here, and you can taste it in every mouthful.
Keu Banh Mi Deli
If you’re in the mood for something different, Keu Banh Mi Deli is the place to go. With a 4.5-star rating, they serve up authentic Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches that are packed with flavour. The classic pork belly banh mi is my personal favourite—it’s crispy, savoury, and utterly delicious. Perfect for a quick lunch on the go!
The Black Pig
The Black Pig is another hidden gem I love. This spot focuses on quality British produce, and their menu changes seasonally. Their pork belly dish is particularly noteworthy—tender meat with crackling that just melts in your mouth. It’s a delightful place to enjoy a hearty meal.
Max's Sandwich Shop
Max’s Sandwich Shop is all about comfort food done right. Their sandwiches are massive and filled with generous portions of high-quality ingredients. I highly recommend the salt beef sandwich—it’s packed with flavour and will definitely fill you up!
Kingly Court
Kingly Court in Carnaby is a fantastic food court that has something for everyone. With high ratings across the board, you can find everything from Pizza Pilgrims to The Good Life Eatery here. Whether you’re after a quick slice or a healthy salad, this place has got you covered.
Farmer J
For a quick and healthy lunch, Farmer J is spot on. They offer build-your-own ‘fieldtrays’ filled with fresh ingredients. You can mix and match to create your perfect meal, making it ideal for those busy workdays when you still want something nutritious and tasty.
If you have a sweet tooth like me, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to bakeries and sweet treats in London.
Knoops for Hot Chocolate
Knoops is a hot chocolate lover’s dream. They offer a range of single-origin chocolates from 28% to 100% cocoa, which you can customise with different milks and flavourings. My go-to is their 70% dark hot chocolate with a dash of sea salt.
Bread Ahead
Whenever I’m at Borough Market, I make a beeline for Bread Ahead. Their doughnuts are simply out of this world. The classic vanilla custard is a must-try, but if you’re feeling adventurous, go for the salted caramel and honeycomb.
Beigel Bake
This 24-hour bakery on Brick Lane is an East London institution. Their salt beef beigel with mustard and pickles is the stuff of legends. For something sweet, try their apple strudel or cheesecake.
Arôme Bakery
This Japanese-French fusion bakery in Covent Garden is known for their honey toast. It’s a thick slice of fluffy milk bread, toasted and drenched in honey. It even inspired me to make an air fryer version.
Buns From Home
These guys started as a lockdown project and have since become a sensation. Their cinnamon buns are to die for, but don’t sleep on their savoury options like the truffle mushroom bun.
If you’re on the hunt for the ultimate comfort food, look no further than London’s vibrant pizza and pasta scene. From traditional Neapolitan pizzas to innovative pasta dishes, there’s no shortage of options to satisfy even the fussiest of eaters.
Trullo
Trullo in Highbury is a gem for Italian food lovers. Their hand-rolled pappardelle with beef shin ragu is a comforting hug in a bowl. For something lighter, try their tagliarini with Dorset crab, chilli, and lemon.
50 Kalò di Ciro Salvo Pizzeria London
This Neapolitan pizzeria in Trafalgar Square serves up some of the best pizza in London. Their margherita DOP, made with San Marzano tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella, is simplicity at its finest.
Crust Bros Restaurant
Located in Waterloo, Crust Bros lets you build your own pizza. I love customising my toppings, but their pre-designed pizzas like the ‘Samson’ with fennel sausage and friarielli are spot on too.
Padella
Famous for their hand-rolled pasta, Padella often has queues around the block. Their pici cacio e pepe is a must-try, and at under a tenner, it’s a bargain for the quality.
Lina Stores
This Soho institution has been serving up authentic Italian deli goods and fresh pasta since 1944. Their ricotta and herb gnudi in sage butter is pure comfort food.
Emilia's Crafted Pasta
With locations in St. Katharine Docks and Aldgate, Emilia’s is all about pasta done right. Their signature dish, the 4-hour slow-cooked béchamel bolognese, is worth every minute of the wait.
When it comes to dinner in London, the options are as diverse as they are delicious. Whether you’re in the mood for the most amazing sushi & champagne experience at Sushi Samba or the iconic hanging tomahawk at Smyth & Wollensky, there is something for every palate.
Hakkasan
This Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant in Mayfair is a feast for the senses. Their dim sum platter is a work of art, and the black truffle roasted duck is pure indulgence.
Darby's
Darby’s in Nine Elms is my #1 spot in London. I got the beef brisket pie and it was to die for. The rich, tender meat encased in buttery pastry is comfort food at its finest!
Sushi Samba
Perched atop the Heron Tower, Sushi Samba offers a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cuisine. Their samba roll with crab, tuna, salmon, avocado, and soy paper is a must-try. And the views? Absolutely stunning.
Smyth & Wollensky
This American steakhouse is famous for their hanging tomahawk steak. It’s a spectacle as much as it is a meal – the perfect choice for a special occasion.
Gymkhana
This Michelin-starred Indian restaurant in Mayfair is a personal favourite. Their kid goat methi keema with bread rolls is a flavour explosion, and the wild muntjac biryani is not to be missed.
Dishoom
No list of London restaurants would be complete without Dishoom. Their black daal, simmered for 24 hours, is legendary. And don’t forget to order a round of their house chai.
Looking for a Sunday lunch in London? You’re spoilt for choice. Personally, my favourite Sunday Roast in London is at Hawksmoor Knightsbridge.
Hawksmoor Knightsbridge
Hawksmoor is known for their steaks, but their Sunday roast is equally impressive. The slow-roasted rump of beef, served with enormous Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, and bone marrow gravy, is simply unbeatable.
London’s food scene is incredibly diverse and ever-changing. These are just a few of my favourites, but there’s always somewhere new to discover. Happy eating!
